Wool-Sorb is a unique bio-based product and technology for the use of value-added waste wool. Born from the search of alternative markets for low-grade wool produced by sheep producers, Wool-Sorb is a technology for wool involving storm water basin insert devices for filtration of pollutants from storm water run-off. Research & Development was conducted with significant findings and efficacy discovered.
While the product and technology has significant value for use in Storm Water Remediation Technologies (SWRT), application is not limited to SWRT but the Wool-Sorb can also be integrated as the absorbent material for the Coast-Sorb and Sorb-System, using only natural fibers and remediation technology for the filtration materials. The Wool-Sorb materials can be completely recycled into benign mulch with composting technology thus creating the only, totally recyclable filtration devices available.
In the U.S., cities with populations of 10,000 to 100,000 are required by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) to address pollutants in storm water run-off. However, the current products available for storm water basin inserts are derived from synthetic, non-woven materials. CNS has one of the only known products/technologies described as Value-Added, sustainable and bio-based in nature. This technology and resulting products can also be combined with other technologies controlled by CNS.
